Clear Creek Guest Ranch
Hosts Chamber's Travel and Tourism Breakfast
Rex and Aline Fredericks of
the Clear Creek Guest Ranch were the hosts for the recent early morning
breakfast held by the Yancey County/Burnsville Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday,
May 7th to kick off National Travel and Tourism Week.
Clear Creek's owners
volunteer the Ranch and prepare a delicious breakfast for Chamber members to
enjoy. Special guest speaker, Patti Jensen, Mitchell County Director of
Tourism, Festivals and Events, was on hand to speak on the creation and success
of the "Home of the Perfect Christmas Tree."
Also on the agenda was the
presentation of four awards by the Travel and Tourism Committee. The Short Bus
Studio received the Rising Star Award. They have just recently opened their
gallery and have great potential for promoting tourism in Burnsville/Yancey
County. The Tourism Visionary of the Year Award went to Quilt Trails of
Western NC. The award was accepted by the organization's Executive Director,
Barbara Webster. Hope Martin was presented the Chamber Volunteer of the Year
Award for her many years of weekly volunteer service at the Chamber office. She
is also co-chairperson of the Food Court at the Mt. Mitchell Craft Fair and
coordinates the Chamber's float for the Christmas Parade. Toe River Studio Tours
received the Tourism Champion of the Year Award. The award was accepted by
Executive Director Denise Cook and Tours Chairperson Claudia Dunaway. The twice
yearly Toe River Studio Tours bring many tourists to the area to shop and tour
our artist's galleries.
The Chamber thanks everyone
who attended the breakfast, along with guest speaker Patti Jensen and the Clear
Greek Guest Ranch Staff for once again making this such a special event.
