FLOOD PHOTOS


Rain from Hurricane Frances decided to visit Yancey County on Tuesday, September 7th. Some places in the county recorded 16 inches of rain. This picture, taken by Dallas Biggs shows the road to Cattail.


Tobacco destroyed by flooding in Cane River area.

Several roads were closed due to damage including McKinney Branch.


River on 19W spills over its banks.


River rises and partially destroys tobacco field.


Cane River on 19W was out of its banks.


Debris left on the bridge at Langford Branch.


Note river is on right side of road but has been across on the left with some water remaining on Hwy 19W.


Dangerous section of Bolens Creek. Rivers and heavy rains have undercut several roads throughout the county.
