Yancey and Mitchell counties weren't the only ones with flood
problems. Many areas throughout Western North Carolina dealt with
flooding September 8 and 9th. This picture was taken by Amanda
Hollifield of Hwy 226 North in front of Paradise Mountain Campground
in the North Cove area of McDowell County. Lodged under the bridge
is a 5th wheel camper. Over 100 feet of road was completely
destroyed.

This photo was taken by Norman Rabek
during the flooding on 197 South about a mile south of Ferguson Hill
Road.
