If Yancey County can’t get its financial budgets in shape, the State has the authority to take over County operations and run the local government, and that has Commissioners worried. At the December Commissioners meeting, the County’s auditor told them if budget cuts aren’t made soon, the County could be out of money in March and by the end of June, which is the end of the fiscal year, the County will be as-munch-as $977 thousand in the red.
