The Animal
Shelter Needs Your Help!
This is the
time of year that animal shelters nationwide have an abundance of homeless
kittens and puppies. The Yancey County Animal Shelter is no exception as they
are now littered with litters. Kittens are in abundance. You may choose from
calico kittens, black and white kittens, gray tabbys, yellow tabbys, Russian
Blues, Siamese and even torti kittens. The Animal Shelter needs your help to
find loving homes for these very adoptable little ones. A special offer is now
in effect. You may adopt two cats or kittens for one adoption fee. $65.00 if
you live in Yancey, Madison or Mitchell County and $75.00 if you live out of the
area. Call 682-9510 for details or visit the Animal Shelter at 962 Cane River
School Road.
A home
is needed for a neutered male Lab mix, golden in color, approx. 2 years old and
weighing 38 pounds. His name is Captain and he has been at the Animal Shelter
since October 2006. Captain is a very adoptable dog - quite friendly but 8
months is a long time to spend at the Shelter. Visit him tomorrow at 962 Cane
River School Road
Ahoy Mates! Captain Needs a Home!
Ahoy mates! My name is Captain. You know, as in Captain and Tennille, the
singing duo. I'm a neutered male Lab mix, golden in color, approx. 2 years old
and weighing 38 pounds. I arrived at the Shelter last October with my friend
Tenille. We were nearly killed in traffic on East Main Street but, thankfully,
we were rescued by a kind gentleman and brought to the Shelter. Tenille has
been adopted but I'm still at the Shelter and am considered a long-time resident
- now 8 months!
A wonderful family did take me home but things didn't work out because they did
not have a fenced yard and I must admit my lust to wander got the best of me.
That's not too hard to understand when you realize that Tenille and I were young
pups, hanging out together, with no one to care about us and teach us our
boundaries. I did enjoy my new family and they had nothing but good things to
say about me. So, to make a long story short, if you have a fenced yard, I'm
ready to be your forever friend. Visit me tomorrow at 962 Cane River School
Road. I'll be waiting!
