In recognition of his long and dedicated career as inspector with the Town of Burnsville, Tom Storie recently received a "Distinguished Service Award" from the NC Building Inspectors’ Association.  It is rare for a building inspector from a small jurisdiction such as Burnsville to receive this award. Funeral services were held for Sgt. Kevin Akins (see below) on Tuesday, March 21st. People lined the streets of Burnsville along the processional route to show their respect. Many waved American flags in honor of Sgt. Akins' sacrifice.  Photos by Steve Hall.
