Jesus Celebration, 5/17

Relay For Life Needs a
Food Vendor for Spring Festival
The Relay For Life Spring
Arts Festival is looking for a church group or any other group to sell food at
the festival that will take place on May 31st from 10-4. A food
vendor has already been set up for funnel cakes, cotton candy and other sweet
food. Relay for Life is asking for a group to commit and sell lunch type foods
such as burgers, hot dogs and barbeque. The booth fee is $75 for a 10x10 space
and the $75 goes to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. If interested,

Gospel Singers Needed
Gospel Singers and musicians
for a new Gospel group are wanted. The group sings southern gospel and church
hymns only. Another Gospel group or duet is also needed for a concert in Clinch
Mountain, Virginia before May 24th. If you are interested, call Charles at
682-2064.

Public Transportation to Cane River Revival *
Mitchell County Transportation will be providing
a public transportation shuttle for anyone who would like to go to the Cane
River Revival in Yancey County. The van will be meeting at the Mitchell
Senior Center at 5:15pm and Ingles in Spruce Pine at 5:30pm. The cost will be $3
per person. Please call to reserve your seat at 688-4715.

Revival with Bro. Steve Blankenship
Revival is going on this week
at Jacks Creek Baptist Church through Sunday May 18th with services beginning at
7:00pm nightly. Brother Steve Blankenship is holding services. Everyone is
invited to attend.

Revival with Rev. G. B. Garland *
The New Day House of Prayer
is in revival through Friday May 16th at 7:00 nightly. The Reverend G.B.
Garland will be the guest speaker. Everyone is invited to attend.

Revival with Rev. Daniel Stewart *
Revival is underway at Calvary Baptist Church on Cane Creek Road in Bakersville at 7pm nightly.
Preaching will be Daniel Stewart and each service will have special singing.
Pastor and congregation invites everyone to attend.

Youth Group Yard Sale*
The Central Baptist Youth will
be sponsoring a yard sale Saturday May 17th from 6:30am-1:30pm just above
Mayland, coming from the Spruce Pine direction, look for the sign.

Annual Church Rummage Sale
Youngs Chapel FWB Church at
Windom will be having their annual Rummage Sale on Saturday May 17th, beginning
at 7 a.m. at the Fellowship Hall. Sausage & tenderloin biscuits and baked goods
will be available to purchase. Proceeds will benefit the Ladies Auxiliary to
help serve our community. Free coffee.

Jesus Day Celebration
The public is invited to
celebrate our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the Jesus Day Celebration on the
Burnsville Town Square Saturday May 17th at 10am. Everything is free to
the public, from helium balloons, streamers, face painting, children's ministry,
gospel music from local artists, community hymns, children's choir...and of
course The March for Jesus. Events get underway at 10am with fellowship
and children's activities, the march line-up will be at 10:45am and the March
through the town streets to lift up the name of Jesus will begin at 11am.
The event will conclude with praise and prayer, including local gospel music,
hymns and children's choir at 11:30am. Bottled water will be available
after the Praise March through the streets. Transportation vans will be
available for those who would like to participate but are unable to walk it.

Fundraising "Ole Fashion Supper" *
Snow Hill Baptist Church
Women's Mission Group will have a fund-raising "Ole Fashion Supper" Saturday May
17th from 4-6pm in the church fellowship hall. The meal will consist of
meatloaf, pinto beans, fried potatoes, stewed potatoes, slaw, cornbread,
desserts (rice pudding, fried pies, cobbler pies, and sugar-free banana
pudding). Drink included. Price of meal: Adult-$6.00; Child-$3.00. The proceeds
will be used to fund projects which are supported by the Women's Mission Group.
Take-outs will be available. Snow Hill Baptist Church is located on Slagle Road,
off Hwy 226 North, Bakersville, NC.

Benefit Singing Canceled*
The benefit singing for Roger Hoilman
that was to be held at Roan's Chapel Freewill Baptist Church on Greasy Creek
near Buladean Saturday May 17th at 6:30pm has been cancelled due to a death in
the church.

Benefit Singing for Todd McIntosh
There will be a benefit singing
for Todd McIntosh, who recently had a severe construction accident. The singing
will take place on Saturday, May 17th, 7:00pm at Patterson Branch Freewill
Baptist Church. Singers will include groups such as: Brothers For Him and the
Bakers Creek Baptist Church Choir.

3rd Saturday Night Singing*
The Church of the Brethren on
Pigeon Roost will be having their 3rd Saturday Night Singing Saturday May 17th
at 7pm featuring the Robberson Family and others. Everyone is invited to
attend.

Homecoming at Hick's Chapel Baptist
Church *
Hick's Chapel Baptist Church on
Highway 221 North in Marion, NC will have homecoming Sunday May 18th.
Lunch will also be served at 12:30pm. Please bring a covered dish to share.

Service Honoring Veterans*
Youngs Chapel Baptist Church at
Booneford will be holding a service to honor our veterans Sunday May 18th at
their 11am service. Rev. Daniel Whettstine will be the visiting
evangelist. All veterans are invited to attend and be recognized. Pastor
Lawrence Glenn and the congregation invites everyone to attend this special
service.

Benefit Singing for Widows
There will be a benefit singing
for all the widows at Bowditch Union Church on Sunday May 18th at 2pm.
Singers will include: Solid Ground, The Hopson Family, The Browns Creek Trio,
and The Robinson Family and others. Lunch will be served in the fellowship
hall before the service. The pastor and congregation invites all to
attend.

Revival with Rev. Jonathan Thacker *
Friendship Baptist Church in
Bakersville will be in revival Monday May 19th through Friday May 23rd at 7pm
nightly. The visiting evangelist will be Jonathan Thacker, the pastor from
Silvers Chapel Baptist Church. Pastor Bobby McKinney and the members of
Friendship Baptist Church invites everyone to attend.

Free Workshop
and Lunch on Understanding Poverty
There will be a free workshop on “Understanding Poverty” on Wednesday,
May 21st from 10-1 pm at the Trinity Episcopal Church Parish
Hall. Participants will receive a free copy of the book “A Framework for
Understanding Poverty” by Dr. Ruby Payne. The workshop and lunch are
free to but space is limited to 40 participants and reservations are

Benefit Barbecue *
There will be a barbecue
benefit dinner at Whites Memorial Baptist Church Fellowship Building in Avery
County Saturday May 24th. They will begin serving at 11 am and the menu
will consist of bar-b-cue, choice of bun or roll, slaw, baked beans, dessert,
drink for $7.00 per plate. All proceeds will go to help with expenses of a

38th National Brotherhood Conference*
The Apostolic Assembly, in the
Glen Ayre Community on Highway 261, will be holding the 38th National
Brotherhood Conference on Saturday and Sunday May 24th and 25th.
Services will be held at 7pm and 11am. Bishop Lonnie C. Woolard of
Middletown, CT will be the speaker. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Yancey Baptist Association
"Faith Sharing" Class
The Yancey Baptist Association
is offering a free class on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 3pm,
on ‘How to share your
faith in Jesus Christ with another’. All believers are invited to attend.
