Football campers gear up for next season

Almost sixty kids braved the heat this past week to attend the Mitchell High football camp. Campers from kindergarten through 8th grade spent the week working on fundamentals in preparation for the coming fall. Coach Barnett and his staff led the campers through drills, scrimmages, and games each day. The young players impressed the coaches with their excitement and hard work throughout the week. Many current Mitchell players also assisted with the camp, giving the younger players a chance to be on the field side by side with the Mountaineers they hope to be like someday.

The Mountaineer football team will continue preparing for the upcoming season with summer workouts each Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday throughout June and July. Coach Barnett encouraged any players thinking of playing this fall to get involved with the summer workout programs so they will be prepared when the season starts.

Lady Mountaineers Camp a Success

Coach Dawn Lowe and several of her Lady Mountaineer Basketball players spent last week looking into the future. The Lady Mountaineer basketball camp attracted over 40 girls looking to learn some of the Mountaineer magic. Camp started each day with a devotional, followed by drills, scrimmages, and lots of fun. Each camper received a camp shirt and many won prizes during the daily competitions. Coach Lowe was pleased with the turnout and said she hoped the camp would continue to grow in the future.
